Day 21

Its your lucky day! The blog is finally updated some! Woo! We started our jobs last week. Its all very exciting. The three of us are working at Hurricane Ridge, which is a mountain nestled in Port Angeles. The mountain is currently covered in snow. The snow should melt by June or possibly July. We see deer every time we drive up. A lot of the guests claim to have seen a baby black bear, we have yet to see him. The marmots will be coming out of hibernation soon. Niki is really excited to see one. We have also seen a few people riding bikes up the mountain. Now I find this to be intriguing and also crazy. It takes us 40 minutes to drive 17 miles, but the thing is the road goes straight up. Some guy I was talking to said it took him two hours, again, crazy. Not to mention there are very few railings on the road.

We don't know what are jobs will be yet but I have a sneaking suspicion that I will be in the snack shop and Niki and Amanda will be working in the gift shop. Our manager has us rotating these first two weeks to see what jobs we like the most and the least. The job has been a little slow so far but the managers say that after Memorial Day it will pick up. They claim the Ridge gets packed in the Summer. We shall see.

Amanda and Niki went to La Push to go to First Beach without me on Monday. I had to work. We only have one day off together. From what they say they didn't have that much fun. It was cold or something. They didn't get to see any tide pools, Amanda said the tide pools are one Second beach. So that's where I'm going tomorrow, most likely by myself because they both have to work.

We went on a hike a couple weeks ago to some hot springs in Elwha. Amanda and Niki got in one. It was covered in algae and smelled like rotten eggs so I passed. The hot spring was a small one so there wasn't much room anyway. Someone was in the good hot spring so we had to settle for the little one. The hike was fun. We invented a new sport, its called dance hiking. Strap your IPod and speakers to your book bag and dance! That was a lot of fun. We didn't get too many strange looks. We also have taken the row boats out on Lake Crescent, Amanda likes to row me and Niki around. Hmm.. we haven't really been doing much else.

Its still chilly out and its not rainy too much so I think the weather is changing. I also think that we are getting more acclimated with it too.

Our Cabin.

A little video of Lake Crescent.

4 weeks later...

These are a few pictures I have from when we first got here. I don't have any newer ones because I don't have a camera, so sorry.
The 1st is some of the trees by the lodge.
The 2nd is Lake Crescent.
The 3rd is highway 101.
